Cartasite ROVR Driving Safety System Featured
DENVER, May 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Cartasite's driving safety system, ROVR, was featured during this year's Colorado Law Enforcement Transportation Safety Awards ceremony. Hundreds of members of the Colorado State Patrol and municipal police forces were briefed during the event on the significant reductions in Motor Vehicle Incident (MVI) rates being reported by large corporations as a result of ROVR.
Cartasite's ROVR is a small sensor which plugs into the vehicle. It is used to monitor subtle details of driving behavior and generate scorecards, which are emailed to commercial drivers each week. The feedback provided by the scorecards has proven effective in creating an environment of constructive competition between drivers with remarkable results.
Col. Mark Trostel, former Chief of the Colorado State Patrol and Driving Safety Advisor for Encana, reported during today's meeting a reduction in MVI rates "in excess of 55% since the Encana Corporation installed ROVR on all of its vehicles."
ROVR was developed in Colorado in a partnership with the City and County of Denver. Cartasite was awarded a patent this past spring for the technology. ROVR is now deployed in over 30 countries, mostly on commercial oil and gas vehicles.

A recent Associated Press article noted that every area in the US that has seen an increase in oil and gas activities has also seen alarming rise in highway fatalities, with one notable exception, Northeast Colorado.
The article stated that Colorado's Weld County approved a record number of drilling permits last year but saw traffic fatalities fall by 23 percent, the lowest level in ten years."
It may be a coincidence, but Cartasite has deployed more ROVR's in NE Colorado than any other region in the US. Virtually every major operator and many of the oil field service companies have ROVR installed on their fleets.
