230 FIFTH, Manhattan's Largest Rooftop Bar, Introduces Bubble Tents to Roof Deck to Offset Frigid Temperatures

New Installation Provides New York City's Most Weather-Proof High Altitude Outdoor Experience

NEW YORK, Jan. 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — 230 FIFTH Rooftop Garden & Penthouse Lounge – Manhattan's largest rooftop bar – has taken the winterization of its outdoor roof deck to new heights with the addition of four transparent custom-made "bubble tents." 230 FIFTH's new installation is the first rooftop bar worldwide to use the cutting-edge inflated shelters made from crystal clear one millimeter thick PVC. Impervious to wind, rain and snow, they have made areas of 230 FIFTH's roof deck New York City's most winter weather-proofed high altitude outdoor destination. The see-through igloo-like tents enable rooftop revelers to relish 230 FIFTH's magnificent Manhattan skyline views from an unimpeded 360 degree perspective, while being cosseted by the homey comforts of heat, sofas, lamps, rugs and TVs.

Originally designed for camping to afford a closer connection with the surrounding environment with the minimum amount of impact, the no-stakes-or-infrastructure-needed tents have been used for hotel rooms in France, beach cabanas in California and street promotions in China.  However, they have not previously been incorporated into an outdoor bar / restaurant operation at either ground or roof level.

"Our offering complimentary robes to guests to off-set winter temperatures set a new precedent for rooftop bars and the bubble tents represent another 230 FIFTH first," states Sal Rozenberg, director of 230 FIFTH.  "The tents – or FIFTHgloos as we're calling them – give a new, whimsical all-weather winter dimension to the roof deck.  Everyone who sees them wants to reserve one, because they're so completely unique!"

Accommodating up to 12 each, the furnishings of the four FIFTHgloos can be re-configured to suit a number of purposes, from an unforgettable romantic rendezvous to a gathering of fans for game watching, during 230 FIFTH's normal operating hours through March 31, when they will be retired for the season. Reservations and a minimum food and / or beverage expenditure required. Special packages for Super Bowl and for Valentine's Day will be available.

Open from 4 p.m. to 4 a.m. Monday through Friday and from 11 a.m. to 4 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday, 230 FIFTH is located at 230 Fifth Avenue, at the corner of 27th Street.  To reserve a FIFTHgloo, call (212) 725-4300.  And for more information about 230 FIFTH, visit www.230-fifth.com.
