Q Link Wireless is a national company that supplies low-income Americans with free cell phones and airtime under the Federal Lifeline Assistance Program. Under this program, each family will be provided with a large re-usable bag to carry their Thanksgiving items, clothes, fresh local produce and a 16-pound turkey.

Most recipients of this Thanksgiving Dinner are families brought together by local-based social service agencies. Other organizations that have benefited from this FSF (Feeding South Florida) program include not-for-profit agencies and homeless shelters.

"We are excited to partner with Q Link Wireless and appreciate their generosity," said Paco Velez, president and CEO of Feeding South Florida. "Making a difference in peoples' lives is what we do every day."

As recent indicators show, most families from South Florida have increasingly becoming reliant on emergency food programs with the figure rising to a tune of 40% since 2010. In the entire state of Florida, close to 150,000 adults have been pushed to choosing between buying food for their families or paying the bills. This ranks Florida 12th overall among all the states with the highest levels of food insecurity in the United States. During the November 26th event, both the Feeding South Florida staff and Q Link Wireless management and their employees will be assisting these families pickup their thanksgiving meals.
