ANCHORAGE, Alaska, Aug. 18, 2010 — Alaska Structures, Inc. (AKS) announced today the opening of its new office in Kabul, Afghanistan – a move that further expands the company's growing global reach. The new AKS office is located in Kabul Green Village Compound, just off Supreme Road, Kabul, Afghanistan.
Kabul provides many strategic advantages for supporting military efforts in the Middle East. Since 1999, AKS has fielded over 30,000 Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) military shelter systems. In 2009 alone, over 5,000 shelters and 5,000 Alaska Environmental Control Units (ECUs) were supplied to US and NATO forces in Afghanistan. "The strategic location of this office, as well as the addition of key personnel, allows us to better serve our extensive government and military customers," said Gerrit Boyle, Executive Vice President, Government Programs.
