Ameritox Chief Laboratory Officer Jay Zimmerman was advised of this national recognition and congratulated for the excellence of the services being provided. Ameritox is one of more than 7,000 CAP-accredited laboratories worldwide.

"By meeting CAP standards, we have demonstrated to our customers that their samples are evaluated using top-notch laboratory equipment and service, and having CAP affirm that is very important to us," Zimmerman said.

The CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program, begun in the early 1960s, is recognized by the federal government as being equal to or more stringent than the government's own inspection program.

During the CAP accreditation process, inspectors examine the laboratory's records and quality control procedures for the preceding two years. CAP inspectors also examine laboratory staff qualifications, as well as the laboratory's equipment, facilities, safety program and record, in addition to the overall management of the laboratory.  This stringent inspection program is designed specifically to ensure the highest standard of care for all laboratory patients.

"CAP is an advocate for high-quality patient care, and so is Ameritox," said Zimmerman. "We know that physicians must have confidence in the accuracy of the results we provide, so they can better monitor their patients' health."
