Angle Oar Launches Kickstarter Campaign to Fund Production of Innovative Kayak Paddle

New type of kayak paddle provides ease of use for anglers and kayakers with physical limitations

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif., July 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Angle Oar, LLC, is manufacturing a new kind of kayak paddle for people who may have endurance or strength limitations due to age, injury, health condition or ability.  The paddle also works well for kayak anglers who no longer have to be concerned about where to place the paddle when they want to move the kayak or reel in their catch.

The paddle snaps into a vertical post that supports the weight of the paddle, where it can be used either straight or in a 25 degree downward angled position. The paddle can also be removed from the mount entirely and used as a regular straight kayak paddle. The company has been refining the prototype over the last year and is ready to place its first large production order. To cover some of the manufacturing costs, Angle Oar has just launched a Kickstarter campaign, with a goal of raising $40,000.

Contributors to the campaign can receive one or more paddles at a discounted rate, or rewards such as mugs, t-shirts or hand-drawn sketches of the creator's original concepts.

"We're getting wonderful feedback from all kinds of people who can see how the Angle Oar might work for their specific situation," noted Meg McCall, president of the company. McCall explains that the Angle Oar is an alternative to a traditional paddle. Because of its energy-saving design, the bio mechanics of the stroke are very different and create less stress on the back, shoulders and wrists. "It gives people who would never have been able to kayak the opportunity to do so. It also gives anglers an option beyond a paddle leash or bungee cords," said McCall.
