Redding has become a major player for paddling sports of all kinds. With its world-class rivers and lakes, Northern California offers the perfect setting for kayaking, rafting, canoeing, and any other adventure the common or professional paddler seeks. Combine that with local paddling shops, outfitters, rental companies, The California 100 and now The California Paddle, and you have the structure for a paddling mecca.

This past May, The California 100 selected Redding as the start for the 100 mile ultra-marathon paddling race; the longest paddling race on the west coast which included Sea Kayaks, Marathon Canoes, Surfskis, Stand Up Paddle Boards and Outriggers. Presented by Rivers for Change, paddlers from across the globe came to compete and are expected again in May of 2014.
