ATLANTA, Nov. 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — The Annual St. Ives Charity Pro Am Golf Tournament, held October 29, 2013 benefiting the Lighthouse Family Retreat, raised $190,000 and achieved a cumulative $1 million for the past 10 years, according to Chris Woodruff, Executive Director of Lighthouse.

"This Tournament has been a fundraising staple for the Lighthouse Family Retreat for a decade now. We're thankful to St. Ives Country Club for their continued commitment, which allows us to raise significant funds and spread awareness for Lighthouse's Mission to help families with children afflicted with cancer restore family relationships, and find hope in God during a week away at an oceanside location in Florida," Mr. Woodruff said.

A highlight was Peyton Ogle, a 9-year-old golfer and cancer survivor from Signal Mountain, TN who was a Lighthouse Retreat participant four years ago. Peyton was positioned on a Par 3, where he waited to greet players and spectators. As foursomes arrived, he greeted them with a handshake, introduced himself as a cancer survivor, and challenged them to use his shot. What participants didn't know was that Peyton is the number two golfer for his age in the state of Tennessee. As a result, most of the groups ended up using his shot!

Tournament Founder and PGA Professional Billy Jack of St. Ives said he was thrilled with this year's event, and the generosity of all the people who gave support. "It's hard to believe that we've raised this much money, but then again, when you see what Lighthouse does for these families, it's not that surprising. We look forward to hosting the event for the next 10 years."
