His first Tele Film, based on the novel “La Symphonie Pastorale” by the French writer, Andre Gide, was selected for all three National Tele Film Festivals (SIGNIS, SUMATHI & RAIGAM). He was selected for the Berlin Talent Campus organized along with the International Film Festival of Berlin. Udugampola was awarded a scholarship on theoretical and practical aspects of cinema offered by the Cultural section of the UNESCO organization headed by the McColl Center in North Carolina, USA. -- a scholarship awarded to one person per year throughout the world. He also served as the National Coordinator, News and Program Director of Radio Veritas Asia.
