Small Business Big Plan Company Profile

I’ve got one too! Thank you so much for dropping by to visit my new site and business. My name is Jenny Hansen and I’m a creative director (and newly minted entrepreneur!) in Oakland, California. Small Business Big Plan started in March, 2013. It was one of those ideas that took shape right before my very eyes and it went from concept to fully-baked plan in the space of just a few days. You know how some things make you jump out of bed every morning? Well this was one of those and it still is! The catalyst was the timing. My career until now has been working at tech/entertainment start-ups in San Francisco as a creative director, and I really couldn’t have asked for a better set of opportunities, experiences, projects and people. But when I finished my last big project I began to feel a little burnt out on the never-ending gold rush that is Silicon Valley. The puffing-up and glossing-over ethic (if you can call it that) was taking me in the opposite direction of feeling like a contributing citizen and I realized it was time to put my skills and knowledge to a more tangible use. I was also getting a whiff of a zeitgeist that I hadn’t noticed before, which was that of individuals migrating toward starting micro-businesses (to use a current term)–whether because they were inspired to start something or in many cases as a result of a crummy economic reality. So there was my answer: start my own micro-business to help other micro-businesses! If you have a small business of your own, I would really love to hear about it. Small Business Big Plan is much more than a store for graphics. It’s a place for me to meet, interact with and learn from other small business owners; to cultivate the benefits of community as we each make our big plans come true! xoxo, Jenny Hansen
