HOUSTON, July 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — The Bay Area Chorus of Greater Houston announces auditions for their Fiftieth Concert Season with a new Artistic Director, Milton Pullen, on Sundays August 17 and 24 from 3 pm to 5 pm by appointment made through the website – info@bayareachorus.org. All of the auditions will be held at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 18220 Upper Bay Road, Nassau Bay, TX 77058.

Milton Pullen, former director of the Bay Area Chorus (1970-75), was selected as the new Artistic Director from four very strong candidates for the position. Milton was born and reared in Texas, earning his music degrees in voice and conducting from Texas A&M University, Kingsville, and from the University of Houston Moores School of Music. Before joining the faculty at Pepperdine University, Malibu, California in 1995, Pullen directed award-winning high school programs in Texas for 24 years, teaching for the majority of the time in the Clear Creek Independent School District. One of Houston's oldest non-profit choral groups, the Bay Area Chorus has brought heartfelt performances to Houston and the Texas Gulf Coast since the spring of 1965. More than 80 singers bring unique interests, ethnicity and cultural experiences to the group and represent a variety of professions as diverse as Houston itself. In addition to performing choral masterworks, this all-volunteer chorus also programs traditional holiday music, historic and contemporary classical choral music, spirituals, and folk songs from around the world and Broadway favorites. In the coming fiftieth Concert Season the Bay Area Chorus hopes to have the past three Artistic Directors return to conduct a few pieces of music with the Chorus.
