KOLDING, Denmark, Jan. 10, 2011 — Bestnet Europe Ltd. has announced a donation of 2600 Netprotect® Long Lasting Insecticide Incorporated Mosquito Nets (LLINs) to JCI (Junior Chamber International) to support their participation in the Budapest-Bamako Great African Run, the world's largest charity rally.
JCI and the JCI Nothing But Nets campaign will hit the ground running in 2011 with the Budapest-Bamako Great African Run. The designated charity of the event, JCI Nothing But Nets hopes to raise $100,000 for the purchase and distribution of 10,000 insecticide-treated bed nets to families in sub-Saharan Africa.
Hundreds of drivers and adventurers from over 35 countries will set out on January 15, 2011 from Budapest, Hungary on the largest charity rally in the world. From its humble roots, the Budapest-Bamako Great African Run has grown into a major international sporting and cultural event. In 2010, more than 500 participants raced and sent 20 tons of aid to Mali and Mauritania.
JCI Nothing But Nets participants will be wearing Netprotect® t-shirts and baseball caps and display Bestnet Europe Ltd. sponsor stickers on their cars. As the race crosses through Senegal, the JCI team will pick up the donation of over 2600 Netprotect® LLINs from Bestnet representatives.
JCI Hungary and sponsors including Bestnet have already donated more than 4,000 bed nets toward their 10,000 goal. Such nets have contributed to a recent reduction in the number of malaria deaths in Africa. Members of JCI Hungary will compete in the rally, raising awareness about the need for action to help Africans overcome the deadly disease.
The Budapest-Bamako Great African Run will conclude on January 30 in Bamako, Mali, site of the 2011 JCI Africa and Middle East Conference. At the conclusion of the race in Mali, JCI will distribute the donated Netprotect® LLINs.
