InstallBuilder is a development tool for creating cross-platform installers, native packages, DVDs and CD-ROMs. It provides an intuitive graphical development environment, making it easy to learn and use, and an XML-based project format that allows for collaborative development, version control and integration with automated build and test environments. From one project file and build environment, developers can build installers for Linux, Windows, Mac OS X, Solaris, FreeBSD, HP-UX, AIX, IRIX, IBM iSeries and pSeries and other platforms.

InstallBuilder 9 has many new features including:

  • Improved performance and reduced memory consumption and size. A new compression algorithm allows for even higher compression rates and decompression speed at runtime. Customers will experience 25% faster installation times and 20% reduction in installer size on average.
  • Retina display support is now available for InstallBuilder Qt users to help improve the OS X experience.
  • HTML license support, a feature previously only available for Qt developers, is now available for all InstallBuilder users. InstallBuilder 9 provides licenses in both plain text and HTML format on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux (32 and 64-bit).

"InstallBuilder's comprehensive cross-platform support has proven invaluable to us, giving our customers a consistent installation experience no matter what operating system they run on as well as reducing our development costs by avoiding the need to support multiple technologies. BitRock's excellent technical support team are the icing on the cake, helping us out quickly and efficiently whenever we need a hand," said Dave Page, Senior Software Architect, Enterprise DB.

"For ten years now, InstallBuilder has been at the forefront of providing excellent tooling for developers building cross-platform applications," said Erica Brescia, co-founder at BitRock. "InstallBuilder 9 is no exception. A lot of effort has gone into making this the most easy-to-use and powerful platform for creating robust installers for any environment."
