The Skilled Nursing Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program operates on guidelines established by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). Patients participating in the program will receive a comprehensive personalized care plan determined by an interdisciplinary team led by a Respiratory Therapist.

Typically, the program is administered over a period of 8-12 weeks, and includes daily physical therapy sessions, as well as occupational therapy. Patients also receive weekly personal sessions with the onsite Respiratory Therapist. Patients suffering from a number of disorders will be eligible for the program, conditions including emphysema and COPD, lung cancer, asthma, cystic fibrosis, neuromuscular disease, bronchiectasis, respiratory conditions related to obesity, as well as those who have recently undergone thoracic or abdominal surgery, or who are dependent on a respirator to breath.

Gold Crest Care Center is a 175-bed facility that offers patients 24-hour care and treatment. The Center's mission is to help patients of all ages, with an emphasis on seniors, rehabilitate after a serious injury or illness. An intensive short-term approach to recovery is used at Gold Crest. Speedy rehabilitation is the key. Says Director Mark Salamon, "The faster an elderly person gets back on his feet and resumes his regular activities, the better it is for his or her overall health."

Gold Crest offers a high-quality medical setting that can't be achieved in a home care environment. With 24-hour care from medical professionals, patients are assured of care when they need it. The facility is free of the types of hazards patients would typically confront in the home, such as staircases or bathrooms that have not been properly equipped to be safe for seniors and other patients with mobility issues.

Gold Crest Care Center has a reputation for providing a comfortable and quiet living environment, with climate controlled private rooms, flat screen televisions, plenty of recreational facilities, and spaces for social interaction with other patients or family members. It also offers beauty and barber services onsite, and the convenience of an in-house pharmacy.
