Bronx Rehabilitation Center Gold Crest Care Center Continues Blood Pressure Checks to the Community for National Heart Month

Bronx Skilled Nursing Facility Gold Crest Care Center, in continuing its commitment and dedication to the community, opens its doors to offer free blood pressure screenings to the community

BRONX, N.Y., Feb. 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — In an effort synonymous with their reputation for high-quality care as well as top-notch patient outcomes, Gold Crest Care Center, a premier rehabilitation and skilled nursing center of the Bronx, has opened its doors to the entire community and is continuing to offer free blood pressure checks for the entire month of February which is National Heart Month.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, killing more than 600,000 Americans each year. For this reason, Gold Crest Care Center is devoting the month of February to raising awareness of heart health for all of their friends and neighbors in the community.

About 1 in 3 U.S. adults have high blood pressure, which increases the risk for heart disease and stroke, the leading causes of death in the United States. Blood pressure is the force of blood against your artery walls as it circulates through your body. Blood pressure normally rises and falls throughout the day, but it can cause health problems if it stays high for a long time.

"Our goal at Gold Crest has always been to improve the health of our patients, residents, along with the extended Bronx community at large. We hope to protect the hearts of all of our neighbors, and we have been welcoming all those that came for a free screening and hope that many more will do the same," stated Mark Salamon, Administrator at Gold Crest.

Gold Crest Care Center located at 2316 Bruner Ave in the Bronx will be providing free blood pressure checks daily through the end of February from 2pm – 5pm and urge all individuals 30 years old and above to come get their blood pressure check.
