The university is constantly reassessing its emergency management and was looking for a new technology solution for the Vancouver campus. FutureShield, a Canadian company that provides software and services for security and emergency management recommended DisasterLAN (DLAN), a scalable web-based incident management system, to meet UBC's needs.
UBCV purchased the system in June and setup a rapid installation and training schedule to have the system up and running for the Canada Summer Games 2014 Special Olympics July 8th-12th, which held most of its sporting events at UBC venues.
