Includes Major Enhancements to the Status Board, Mobile Use, and Security

BUFFALO, N.Y., April 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — DisasterLAN (DLAN) 9.4 allows users to do more with their status boards, including the ability to view more in depth information on each panel, monitor RSS feeds, and temporarily switch between panels. It also includes enhancements to mobile use and new security features.

DLAN Status Board Builder now allows administrators to create boards that display more underlying panel information on the screen simultaneously, allowing users to view a more in depth version of the data. Also RSS monitoring tools in the Communication Center have been extended to the Status Board, allowing users to view RSS feeds directly on their boards.

Any DLAN user can now customize what they see on their status board by switching out panels. For example a user can temporarily swap out an incident slideshow for a police Twitter Feed. These changes are one-time and user-specific and do not affect the original status board settings.

In line with other "Mobile First" initiatives, the Situation Report module can now send out automated email reminder notifications when a user's agency report is due. These can reach users even when they are away from their desks, making filling out Situation Reports more efficient.

The Chat Module has also been redesigned to enhance mobile capabilities. Users from any device can all now participate in one-on-one chats and chat rooms to discuss the specifics of an issue in a secured and accountable way. New Ticket Manager Report layouts have also been designed to improve usability on phone-sized screens.

Tim Masterson, DLAN Product Manager, notes "Our 9.x set of releases this year have truly made a difference for our DLAN customers. Dashboards, responsive web pages, and mobile first tools allow our users to get the very most from their system wherever they are."

DLAN 9.4 also includes several security improvements for enterprises including revamped user account administration tools, automatic logout of idle users, support for large numbers of roles, and linking of user accounts to LDAP based authentication systems. These improvements both simplify and enhance security on DLAN.

Buffalo Computer Graphics' DLAN is a web-based incident management system designed for use in emergency operations centers to manage both planned events and disasters using ICS and NIMS standards.
