Kevin Colosimo, managing partner of the firm's Pittsburgh office, was named to the 2013 list of Pennsylvania Super Lawyers.  Partner Andrew Jenkins, senior associate Jeanette Oliver, and associate Michael Brewster were named to the 2013 list of Pennsylvania Rising Stars.

The Super Lawyers designation is awarded to no more than 5 percent of lawyers in each state.  The Rising Stars designation is given to no more than 2.5 percent of lawyers in each state who are 40 years old or younger or who have been practicing for less than 10 years.

Rick Burleson, managing partner of Burleson, said the recognition underscores the firm's commitment to attracting and retaining some of the best and brightest lawyers the industry has to offer.

"Kevin, Michael, Andrew, and Jeanette are incredibly talented attorneys who have a unique depth of knowledge and real-world understanding of the concerns influencing our industry," explained Burleson.  "They have routinely demonstrated their capabilities as 'go-to lawyers' in their practice areas and are well versed in the issues facing our clients as they develop the Appalachian Basin's Marcellus and Utica shale plays."

Burleson first opened its Pittsburgh location in 2009 to serve energy companies in the Marcellus Shale. Since then, it has expanded significantly, adding offices in Denver, San Antonio, and Midland, Texas. With that explosive growth, the firm now represents clients in every major North American shale play.

Colosimo has earned recognition from Thomson Reuters as a Rising Star each year from 2005 through 2007 and again from 2010 through 2012.  In addition to managing Burleson's Pittsburgh office, he is a trial lawyer who practices in the areas of oil and gas litigation, energy law, and contract law, and provides counsel to clients on a range of matters, including risk management alternatives, claims assessment, and litigation strategy.  He is a frequent author, commentator, and lecturer on oil and gas topics across the Appalachian Basin.  He is a certified arbitrator and mediator in the Western District of Pennsylvania and is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and Ohio.

Jenkins, who has earned the Rising Star recognition for four consecutive years, focuses his practice in oil and gas litigation and dispute resolution, construction law, and business and contract law.  He has represented multiple oil and gas exploration and production companies in a variety of lease, business, and land ownership disputes; employment matters; and mechanics' lien claims.  He has also counseled a large international corporation in claims of defective design and fraud; multiple architects in various disputes; a number of project owners in construction disputes; and the world's largest steel-producing company in personal injury claims asserted by facility employees.

Oliver is well versed in commercial litigation, land use, and oil and gas title law.  She has worked on a variety of land use appeals and has had extensive involvement in the areas of eminent domain, commercial law, and construction law.  She has also represented clients in a number of federal and state litigation matters and is experienced in land use and bankruptcy concerns.

Brewster primarily handles issues related to oil and gas title, business and contracts, and corporate and securities law.  His background includes representing clients in preparing Regulation D private placement memoranda for the development of oil and gas wells; SEC and blue sky filings for the sale of securities; and compliance with SEC and FINRA regulations.  He is also experienced in negotiating and drafting documentation for commercial transactions.

Super Lawyers generates its annual rankings nationwide each year by state.  Candidates are determined through a nomination process and evaluated based on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional development.  For more information about the ranking, visit www.superlawyers.com.
