Lyon has been a well-known figure in the San Diego hospitality industry for 40 years. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business, Lyon was the Director of Sales of the Hilton Hawaiian Village, at the time the third largest hotel in the world, and the opening Director of Marketing for The Hotel InterContinental, which today is The Marriott Marquis & Marina adjacent to the San Diego Convention Center.
