Make My Cake Celebrity Baker Aliyyah Baylor Shares Her Baking Tips at the Country Living Fair in Austin

NEW YORK, April 27, 2012 — Celebrity Baker Aliyyah Baylor will share some of her family's Southern home-style cake cooking secrets at the Seventh Annual Austin Country Living Fair on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at the Travis County Expo Center.

The renowned Chief Baking Officer (CBO) of Make My Cake will offer culinary tips while whipping up some of the mouth-watering southern-style recipes she learned watching her mother and grandmother cook.

A third generation baker, Aliyyah has been carrying on the family's tradition of making delicious cakes for more than 30 years and has been featured on the Food Network's Throw Down with Bobby Flay.

Aliyyah credits her grandmother's love for cooking and entrepreneur spirit with helping develop her internationally renowned culinary skills. She said that her grandmother moved first to Alabama, and later Mississippi, before settling in the Big Apple in the 1940s, selling her delicious baked cakes and other treats out of her home kitchen.

"I grew up watching my grandmother, Ma Smith, whipping up mouth-watering, southern-style recipes," said Aliyyah, who by 13 was helping her mother bake and sell their now-famous baked goods from their home until overwhelming popular demand forced the family to open two storefront locations with the flagship in Harlem.

The recipes created by Make My Cake combine the southern baking traditions of Alabama and Mississippi with a touch of Harlem.

Fairgoers will receive special instruction on how to make strawberry shortcake with a southern twist. And what's a party without a cake? The celebrity baker will also provide tips on cake decorating. Make My Cake's products at http://makemycake.com are made with fresh, local ingredients, which means her sweet treats taste just as amazing as they look.

"I am excited and looking forward to sharing the Baylor family recipes at the Austin Country Living Fair," Baylor said. "And, I love visiting Austin, the big city with a sweet tooth and small-town heart."
