Cale America Brings World-Class Pay-by-Plate Parking Solution to Gold Coast Community

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla., April 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — The City of Deerfield Beach wanted to overhaul its parking operation that serves visitors, residents and businesses in this picturesque South Florida city. The 800-space parking system currently utilizes mostly individual, coin-operated, pay and display meters, and annual permits for residents. The City wanted to find a customer-friendly solution that would both increase revenue and reduce operating costs over time. After extensive research, a request for proposals for a new parking revenue collection and enforcement system using pay-by-plate and license plate recognition technology was issued. The City got much more than they asked for.

The winning vendor team, comprised of Tampa-based Cale America Inc., Miami-based Bytewise Solutions and Plattsburgh, NY-based gtechna went well above and beyond the scope of work and specification issued by the City of Deerfield.  "Cale America brought a proven plan and an experienced project team with industry leadership, not just a technology solution," said Rebecca Medina Stewart, Public Information Officer for the City of Deerfield. "It was very important to us that we partner with a group that could work with our community in a consulting and educational role. With Cale, we felt like we were dealing with real people, and not just a corporation."

Cale, who has implemented successful parking control solutions in cities like Key West, Pittsburgh, Chicago, Calgary and Amsterdam, said that essential components of their approach are great public outreach and seamless technology integration. "We understand the need to listen to stakeholder feedback as part of the planning process, and to adapt the system to what is right for the City of Deerfield Beach. Every community is different," said Jeff Nethery, Director of Business Development for Cale America. "Our goal is to get the community excited by addressing their concerns and helping the City explain the many benefits of having a world-class, state-of-the-art parking management system."

The roll-out of the new parking program is planned to start in June. Cale and the City of Deerfield Beach have already set up a Parking Help Desk number, 954-480-4256, to answer questions about the new program. Once the system is installed and active, the Parking Help Desk will be available 7 days a week for patrons to call for assistance.
