Cale America Teams with Children's Cancer Center

Parking Kiosks Collect Donations to Fund Cancer Research

TAMPA, Fla., Oct. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Many communities up and down the west coast of Florida rely on Cale America for parking technology and expertise.  Children and families in these same communities rely on the Children's Cancer Center of Tampa for the educational, financial, and emotional support necessary to cope with childhood cancer or chronic blood disorders.

It is an unlikely marriage of business and community. But Cale America's social mission is clear: to funnel a percentage of its fees from parking systems back to families in need in Tampa Bay, where Cale America is based.

Through a combination of event sponsorships, donations made through Cale parking kiosks and matching donations by Cale, contribution goals for the year were quickly exceeded.  The parking kiosks are solar powered and accept coins, cash and credit cards for donations. "We are so grateful to Cale America and their corporate team for their efforts to help raise money for these families," commented Patty O'Leary, Chief Operating Officer for the Children's Cancer Center. "Using Cale's parking terminal to collect donations is a fun and creative way for people to get involved in our mission."

Cale America was a co-sponsor of last month's Chick-fil-A 3rd Annual Fall Stampede 5k run and 1 mile family fun walk.  Additionally, Cale has provided a customized donation kiosk at the Children's Cancer Center headquarters on Westshore Drive in Tampa and another portable pay station for events such as CCC's 40th anniversary celebration, Old McMickey's Family Fun Farm Day and the Bill Currie Ford Fundraising events earlier this year.

"Many of our Cale employees really enjoy volunteering and helping raise money for the kids," remarked Andreas Jansson, Managing Director for Cale America. "Our parking meter was dubbed by CCC as the 'Love Meter.'  It is more fun to pay a parking meter if you know your money is going to such an important cause."

Cale has committed to future sponsorships and matching kiosk donations including those made at parking industry trade shows Cale attends throughout the country each year.  Communities or event coordinators interested in supporting the Children's Cancer Center or participating in Cale's parking kiosk donation program can visit the company websites or contact the CCC or Cale representatives listed below.

About the Children's Cancer Center

While other organizations are committed to finding a cure tomorrow, the Children's Cancer Center is committed to helping families cope today. Founded in 1974, the mission of the Children's Cancer Center revolves around the understanding that a child's diagnosis becomes the entire family's diagnosis. Support is therefore offered to all members of the family throughout this difficult journey – from diagnosis through treatment and beyond. Programs fall into one of three main areas of support:  emotional, educational or financial. Here, kids and families are offered hope and can learn to cope together, as a strong family unit. To learn more about the Children's Cancer Center, its mission, or how you may become part of this important support for Tampa Bay families devastated by Cancer or Chronic Blood Disorders, please visit us at www.childrenscancercenter.org or call Danielle Lanier, Director of Programs and Family Services, at 813-367-5437 ext.6.
