Helen McNeal, Executive Director of the Institute, said, "As chronic and serious conditions increase due to our aging population, America must have a workforce prepared to handle the growing demand for compassionate palliative care that goes hand-in-hand with curative treatment. Our cutting-edge palliative care courses are teaching nurses, social workers, chaplains and other healthcare professionals the latest and best practices in palliative care."

Many of the Institute's programs are fully online, while others offer a blend of classroom and online learning. In one of the Institute's program overview videos, curriculum developer and teacher Carma Erickson-Hurt, RN MSN, APRN, ACHPN, says, "I can honestly tell you that as someone who has taught both in the classroom and online, that I actually have more interaction within an online classroom than I ever do in a lecture format." That online interaction combined with flexibility and accessibility is why the Institute continues to experience such rapid growth.
