Calling All Campers! Camp Broadway® Is Enrolling Now to Give Kids a Taste of Broadway

Enroll, rehearse and perform like a true professional at New York's leading theater arts camp.

NEW YORK, March 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Children across the globe may have their pick of theater camps, workshops and classes. But there's only one Camp Broadway — Broadway's original summer camp program designed for theater-loving kids who want to experience Broadway like a true professional. And now, Camp Broadway is calling all campers to enroll in its summer sessions, July 15-19 and August 5-9. Kids, ages 10-17, are being encouraged to sign up immediately due to limited space.

What makes Camp Broadway unlike other theater or drama camps today? It treats all campers like true Broadway professionals in order to create intelligent consumers of the arts while also teaching children and teens to act, dance and sing. Cultivating the inner talent each child brings to the stage, Camp Broadway takes a uniform, high-energy approach that teaches campers how to deliver like real Broadway performers while nurturing their spirits and bolstering self-esteem.

While Camp Broadway offers summer camps in several cities nationwide, its original camp takes place in the "Big Apple" — the seat of Broadway fame. This year's camp package includes:

  • 5 days (40 hours) of instruction in singing, acting, and dancing by trained Broadway professionals
  • Master classes with Broadway artists
  • Q&A sessions with industry professionals
  • Backstage seminar with a production crew
  • Matinee ticket to a Broadway show
  • Pre-show luncheon at a popular Times Square restaurant
  • Post-show Q&A with the cast
  • Official Camp Broadway t-shirts
  • Official Cast of Characters headshot
  • Healthy lunches, snacks and water
  • Complimentary admission to the Family Finale
  • A special Family Finale musical presentation

Of note, Camp Broadway is for all skill levels; no previous experience is necessary. What is required (or helps to some degree) is that campers be curious about, if not downright crazy for Broadway. From the moment they show up until they perform in the ensemble-style, abridged version of a Broadway hit, campers will be busy! And because who is teaching at Camp Broadway is just as important as what is being taught, the camp's highly skilled Broadway artists and industry professionals will be exposing these younger performers to a dose of Broadway reality, providing a truly authentic rehearsal experience and insider tips of the trade.

"The quality of this program is second-to-none, particularly considering how much these kids accomplish in a week — it's spectacular!" says Tony Parise, Camp Broadway's Artistic Director. "They'll participate in a real ensemble, or chorus, see a Broadway show, plus come away with a solid understanding of all that goes into a top-of-the-line Broadway production."

Camp Broadway also offers several other specialized summer programs ): "Shining Stars" for ages 6-9, "The Next Step" for ages 15-18, and "Camp Broadway Pops" for ages 10-17.
