The Carlos Slim Foundation Presents AccesoLatino.org to Top Arizona Latino Leaders

PHOENIX, Sept. 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Arizona Latino leaders joined representatives of the Carlos Slim Foundation in Phoenix for the Arizona launch of AccesoLatino.org, a free Spanish language website aimed at supporting US Latinos.

"Acceso Latino puts valuable knowledge at the fingertips of everyone who wants to learn new skills and engage in their community. It is a simple, yet powerful resource that can potentially help millions of people improve their lives," said Mr. Carlos Slim Helu.

AccesoLatino.org offers information, downloadable materials, and resources in the areas of education, job training, healthcare, immigrant rights and responsibilities, and culture. Information is displayed in an easy-to-use format and includes videos that walk users of any skill level through each section step by step. The Education component of the site covers all academic levels, from primary school through the university level, including complete GED exam preparation materials in Spanish.

Additionally, the Job Training area, includes courses in more than 20 professions, leading to certification, and another main section provides comprehensive and easy-to-understand guides on how to complete the DACA application process. Users can also find relevant preventative healthcare information for the whole family in the Health section.

Since its official launch on August 11th, AccesoLatino.org has seen more than 40,000 active sessions from nearly 30,000 users.  While most U.S. sessions accessed come from California and Texas, Arizona remains among the top 8. 48% of all sessions are accessed from a smartphone while 43% originate from a computer.

Some of the groups represented at the launch were League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), Promise Arizona, East Valley Patriots for Social Justice, University of Arizona, Arizona State University, United Cerebral Palsy of Central Arizona, among various other community and advocacy groups.
