Celebrities Desperate to Support Fertility

American Fertility Association Event Highlights Family Building for Gays and Lesbians

LOS ANGELES, April 6, 2010 — The American Fertility Association (The AFA), a national non-profit organization, will enlist actors from the hit TV show Desperate Housewives to further the work of educating and supporting all men and women desiring to create their families – including hopeful gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) persons. The AFA will hold its 9th annual Illuminations Los Angeles fundraising event on April 9th at the Sunset Tower Hotel, the Art Deco masterpiece on Sunset Boulevard.

Illuminations Los Angeles celebrates the work of individuals and organizations that have made an impact in the world of fertility. At this year's Illuminations, The AFA will honor Dr. Guy Ringler, a board-certified Reproductive Endocrinologist with California Fertility Partners, and Will Halm, Esq. of the National Fertility Law Center. The awards will be presented by actress and philanthropist Holly Robinson Peete and Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry.

A VIP cocktail reception will kick-off the night at 6:00 p.m., followed by general admission at 7:00 p.m., with the awards ceremony following. It wouldn't be an event in L.A. without stars mingling among the crowd, and guests can look forward to having celebrities such as Brenda Strong, Tuc Watkins and Kevin Rahm on hand to lend their support to The AFA.

Illuminations LA provides an opportunity for the media to highlight the importance of infertility prevention, reproductive health and family building, by interviewing reproductive endocrinologist specialists, patients, fertility advocates and of course, celebrities.

Members of the media are encouraged to attend. Contact the Director of Communications to be added to the media guest list.
