Celebrity Golf Classic and Poker Party to Support Children's Medical Center

Former NHL Dallas Stars All-Star Goalie Marty Turco to Host Inaugural Poker Party and Golf Classic

DALLAS, April 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Former NHL All-Star and Olympic goalie Marty Turco will be hosting the inaugural Marty Turco Poker and Pairing Party and Celebrity Golf Classic that will help support Children's Medical Center as they celebrate their centennial anniversary. This exciting event will kick off on June 1, 2013, at Museum Tower in the Dallas Arts District and will conclude on June 3rd at the Honors Golf Club in Carrollton.

All registered golfers and a guest are invited to attend the Pairings Party the Saturday night before the Monday golf tournament. This will be a wonderful opportunity to meet the participating celebrities and enjoy incredible food, drink, live and silent auction items. The highlight of the evening is the pairing of golf foursomes with sports celebrities. Each foursome will have an opportunity to bid and win the first pick of the featured celebrity participants.

In addition, a celebrity poker tournament will take place at the pairings party. The poker tournament will involve eight tables, each with eight players, including at least one celebrity per table. Space is limited and the "buy in" for a seat at a table is $400. The winner of the poker tournament will have the chance to claim a share of the top cash prize in a "High Hand" draw of $20,000 (half of which will be donated to Children's).

On Monday, June 3, Marty Turco will host the inaugural Celebrity Golf Classic in support of Children's. Participants will enjoy breakfast and tee off at 10:30 a.m. The outing will include a fun-filled day on a championship style course with various celebrities, prizes at different holes, dinner and an awards ceremony.

Marty Turco spent the first nine years of his 11-year NHL career with the Dallas Stars and has returned to his adopted home of Dallas because of his affinity for the area. "My family and I felt that Dallas was home and we want to be able to give back to a community that has been so good to us," Marty Turco said. "Children's enjoys an outstanding reputation as one of the largest and finest pediatric facilities in the country. They [Children's Medical Center] do so much to help kids in need of care, that we are proud to support their efforts. The timing of my return to Dallas with the hospital's centennial anniversary makes it even more special."

Michael Frick, president of the Children's Medical Center Foundation, stated, "We recognize and acknowledge the generosity which Marty Turco and his family have made helping out worthy causes throughout his career in the NHL. We are grateful and honored that he has established this fundraiser in support of Children's."
