Colony Club to Unveil New Enhanced, Relaxed Look with Modern Updates When it Reopens Oct. 1, 2013

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Sept. 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Elegant Hotels Group's west coast Barbados resort Colony Club will unveil its new look on Oct. 1, 2013. Already one of the Platinum Coast's finest traditional properties, the Colonial-style resort will enhance its tasteful look and feel with modern updates while maintaining its Bajan plantation home feel.

The new concept focuses on relaxation, restoring mind and body, healthy eating, togetherness and minimizing impact on the local environment. Muted decor, soft lighting, natural wood and earthy tones convey the old-world feel, accentuated by vivid color.

Sunil Chatrani, CEO of Elegant Hotels Group, commented, "We have put a lot of thought into what added extras we can offer Colony Club guests without stripping away the essence of what makes it such a special place – it's set to be stunning."

Laguna Restaurant & Bar

Creating more space for socializing, the Laguna Restaurant features a new modern design continuing the original plantation home feel. At the al fresco environment, guests enjoy garden, pool and sea views. Laguna Restaurant uses the freshest local ingredients, some sourced from the Organic Garden, and offers healthy dining choices. The Laguna Bar serves organic teas and freshly-squeezed fruit and vegetable juices by day, and traditional rum punches and house speciality cocktails by night.

Organic Garden

The new Organic Garden hosts a variety of fresh herbs, fruits, vegetables and flowers, and its own tilapia farm pond, all used on menus and floral displays in the Laguna Restaurant. Starting late November 2013, Colony Club chefs will host complimentary tours at the Organic Garden, and harvest seasonal produce for a cooking demonstration in the Laguna Restaurant.

Bedrooms and suites

All of the 46 Oceanview, Luxury Oceanview and Luxury Poolside rooms have been upgraded with a focus on preserving the residential plantation feel. The elegant two-tone design blends with the Bajan-style coral stone walls and whitewashed wood ceilings, and is complemented by custom made warm-wooded furniture. This includes four poster beds in most room categories, French doors opening onto private balconies or patios, and views of the ocean or lush gardens and tranquil pools.

The rooms also feature new modern amenities including flat screen TVs, iPod docking stations and free WiFi for all guests. All rooms have natural skincare, bath and body products, and in-room fitness amenities, including personal yoga mats and in-room fitness channel.

Luxury Oceanview rooms or One Bedroom Suites feature Nespresso machines and a range of local organic teas, as well as locally-created aromatherapy scents combining tones of ylang ylang and lemongrass.

Activity Schedule

The new activity schedule offers something for everyone and every interest. This includes watersports; choice of a daily session of complimentary yoga, Pilates or Tai Chi; fishing trips, historical walking tour of Holetown, custom island tour and rum tour, and seasonal tennis clinics.

The Colony Club Family Focus

On their first evening at the resort, children up to age 9 receive a turtle soft toy, and enjoy mini-robes and plate of cookies. Activities including watersports/land-based activities are enjoyable/educational. All children receive the "Fun Facts About Turtles" worksheet and "Did You Know Barbados?" fact-finding game.

Colony Club provides families with children under age 2 with a custom baby pack, including natural baby bath and skin products, comfortable full crib and musical mobile on request.

Sustainability

Already using solar power for water and recycling glass/cooking oils, Colony Club uses new measures to minimize energy consumption, recycle and protect the environment, including the Organic Garden and more natural products in the rooms.

Colony Club supports the vision of the Barbados Sea Turtle Project through educational talks, beach cleanup days and charity donations. It also adopted "The Learning Center" school for young Barbadians with learning disabilities.

Colony Club accommodation lead-in rates start from $282 per room per night inclusive of tax, service charges, breakfast and other usual inclusions.
