Concussion expert to lead hour-long discussion watched by youth coaches, administrators, parents and athletes
WALLINGFORD, Conn., Aug. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Innovative CEUs is launching its first webinar on the topic of Youth Sports Concussions. This hour-long webinar will feature speaker Thomas Trojian, MD, FACSM, a leading concussion expert. Dr. Trojian is a member of the Connecticut Concussion Task Force, The Connecticut State Medical Society's Medical Aspect for Sports Committee and a sports medicine advisor to the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference. He graduated from Howard University with honors and has worked with renowned athletes like James Bradley of the Pittsburg Steelers. Dr. Trojian is also a certified youth soccer coach and has worked with USA Soccer, USA Rugby and other professional teams. Dr. Trojian has been published in medical journals and has been invited to speak both nationally and internationally about his research on concussions.
Participants of the webinar will learn the basics of a concussion including what happens to the brain when it sustains a concussion, how to evaluate the signs and symptoms of a concussion and the risks of returning an athlete back from a concussion. Following the webinar there will a multiple-choice final exam in which participants are expected to get no less than 80% correct in order to print out their certificate of completion.
