The unique conference cuts through the chatter to tune into four tactical areas of focus: classroom culture, academic performance, management and ritual, and personal experience. The core content areas of reading, writing, and math will be addressed in detail. Designed for both teachers and administrators, the program delivers the specific tools and resources necessary to enhance their current practice and support, challenge, and motivate all their learners.

"Words like 'grit' and 'mindset' are buzzwords these days. What's great about this conference is that it shows teachers how to weave these concepts into what they do every day in their classrooms," says SDE conference developer Mia Leonard-Solis. "This conference explores resilience and growth mindset through the specific lens of the core content areas and demonstrates how they can be explicitly and confidently taught in any classroom."

Featured are some of the country's top experts on growth mindset, including highly requested educators, classroom teachers, and popular authors. Dynamic and in-demand speakers Dr. Cynthia "Mama J" Johnson and Dedra Stafford will serve as conference keynoters. Also in the lineup are Jeffrey Benson, Jan Miller Burkins, Anni Stipek, and Kim Yaris, and Texas classroom practitioner Bryce Sizemore.

The program was developed to show educators how they can create classroom environments that are conducive to risk-taking, resiliency, academic perseverance, and growth. In 32 available sessions, attendees will explore a wide range of pertinent topics, including perseverance, feedback and assessment, children of poverty, project-based learning, executive function skills, and social/emotional learning.

"We want to ensure educators that every student can overcome and achieve. This requires an attitude of optimism, awareness of responsibility, self-pride, social skills, and the disposition to address obstacles head on. By attending this conference, educators will learn just how to teach these skills and what they look like in the everyday context of the classroom," Leonard-Solis says.
