Better Consumer Safety Afforded by New QR Code-based Identity Verification System

CrimShield's ValidID allows real-time validation of contractors, installers, and other individuals before letting them inside

MESA, Ariz., July 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — CrimShield, an Arizona-based leader in the field of identity and employment verification, has announced the release of a new QR code system that allows individuals to view important information about contractors, installers, and other individuals in real-time, and before letting them into the customer's home or business.

The groundbreaking system, branded "ValidID," takes popular marketing technology and adapts it to consumer safety. With a simple smart-phone QR Code Reader, any person can take a snapshot of the QR code located on an employee badge, business card, website or e-mail and instantly verify employment status and other details.

CrimShield CEO David Pickron points out that this technology could be an important step towards preventing thefts and other forms of crime. "In the past, we have seen cases where criminals have kept items, like company shirts or employee badges, after they have left a job. They keep these items for the specific purpose of using them to gain access into peoples' homes or businesses," he says. "With our system, you can scan the badge of the person who's standing at your front door and instantly verify that they are who they say, and are currently employed by the company they claim to represent."

ValidID also offers built-in emergency features. For instance, in the event that an identity or employment can't be verified, users can contact the employer indicated on the card directly, or immediately dial 911 for assistance. Pickron adds that the technology has many other potential uses. He envisions customers using ValidID technology to verify Internet dates, door-to-door salespeople, nonprofit volunteers, and others.

"We live in a world where it is incredibly easy to falsify badges and other credentials. Luckily, technology has come to a point where we can take steps to make ourselves, our families, and our businesses safer by verifying things like identity and employment in just a few seconds," Pickron says. "CrimShield already has lots of tools that make it harder for criminals to beat the system… Now we're taking the next natural step towards keeping them out of your home or business."
