Conversation Puts Money Where Mouth Is

NYC-based ad agency uses the New Traditional to win client work

NEW YORK, July 19, 2011 — NYC-based ad agency Conversation, LLC announces the win of a new account today – SUNY Plattsburgh – after an unusual pitch in early June.

"We decided to take our pitch to the next level," said Conversation founder Frank O'Brien. "Education accounts are extremely important to us, and we wanted to show that we truly believe in everything we promote and offer."

Conversation's team decided to follow their motto and "bridge the gap" by decreasing the perceived distance between Manhattan and Plattsburgh. With two Convo team members in Plattsburgh, O'Brien used video chat to conference-in from his office in NYC. "We wanted to prove that even though we are 274 miles away, we will always be able to use technology to make it seem as though we're in the room."

O'Brien took the Plattsburgh team on a virtual tour of his office, walking around and introducing the Conversation team through his laptop. "It was really great to get a feel for Convo's culture," said Bryce Hoffman, executive director for marketing and communications at Plattsburgh. "It felt like we were all in the same room, and it proved that Conversation is equipped to understand and use the latest technologies."

Conversation believes that a strategic use of new and traditional tactics will provide clients with the most complete solution. In this case, being present in person was a traditional approach, and the use of video chat to provide virtual attendance was pretty new and non-traditional. Conversation's use of the New Traditional for their pitch proved that they are completely comfortable working with the technologies, and willing to do what it takes to win a competitive pitch.
