Dale Buchanan Completes the Russian Kettlebell Challenge

Boca Raton's only RKC – Russian Kettlebell Instructor

BOCA RATON, Fla., June 29, 2010 — After 12 months of diligent practice, attending workshops, private coaching, and hard work, Dale Buchanan, owner of Supreme Ultimate Fitness in Boca Raton, FL, passes the prestigious Russian Kettlebell Challenge (RKC) in St Paul, MN, on April 25, 2010.

"I'm 1 of 3 active RKC instructors in all of Palm Beach County and the only one who resides and works out of a studio in Boca Raton. The RKC kettlebell instruction program is the most thorough and demanding 3-day (23 hours) fitness certification I have ever taken. I have been in the fitness industry for 28 years and hold certification in T'ai Chi Chih, Tae Kwon Do, Personal Training, Nutrition, TRX, and now Russian Kettlebells," explains Dale. "I had to pass tests of physical strength, endurance, how to manage fatigue, and of course, instruction. It was not at all easy."

A kettlebell or girya (Russian) is a traditional Russian cast iron weight that looks like a cannonball with a handle. The ultimate tool for extreme all-round fitness. The kettlebell goes way back – it first appeared in a Russian dictionary in 1704 (Cherkikh, 1994). So popular were kettlebells in Tsarist Russia that any strongman or weightlifter was referred to as a girevik, or "a kettlebell man."

The RKC was created by John DuCane and Pavel Tsatsouline of Dragon Door in 2001. They have since certified thousands of people in the past 9 years on how to use and teach kettlebells correctly for fitness, health, fat loss, and strength. Kettlebells have become a huge part of people's fitness programs, especially professional athletes and celebrities, including Angelina Jolie, Sylvester Stallone and Matthew McConaughey. You can see Dale's kettlebell instructor reviews on DragonDoor.com.

Dale says, "After an initial consultation, fitness assessment, and functional movement screen, each new client is provided with a custom Kettlebell fitness program that provides balance, strength, mobility, power, and endurance to their lives. People come to me for fat loss, athletic performance, to help their golf or tennis game, increase endurance for martial arts, and general health and well being."

The main appeal of kettlebell training is the portability. Workouts can be done at home, work, on the beach or wherever you have a few feet of space. Kettlebells are a portable gym and the results are far better than using several pieces of equipment and machines at the typical gym. There is however a skill set of learning the basics prior to doing an intense kettlebell workout. It's best to learn from a qualified RKC instructor to prevent injury.
