Proof-of-Concept Established, Widespread Roll-Out to Specialty Providers Underway
BOSTON, May 19, 2009 — MedAptus(R), market leader for charge capture technologies, today announced that The Dartmouth-Hitchcock Clinic will be broadening its deployment of the MedAptus Professional offering, Practice Plus Edition. The solution will be rolled out to 150 specialty providers with practices in southern New Hampshire, with an option for future expansion to all physicians across the sizeable Dartmouth-Hitchcock system.
Internationally renowned, nationally ranked and regionally respected, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) is New Hampshire's only academic medical center. More than 900 primary and specialty care physicians located throughout the state, as well as Vermont, are affiliated with The Dartmouth-Hitchcock Clinic (DHC).
MedAptus' Practice Plus Edition is a powerful, yet easy-to-use, solution proven to mitigate potential professional revenue loss, compliance overhead and lack of billing process transparency. The technology, highly scaleable for larger groups with a wide spectrum of user workflows, is becoming increasingly vital to academic medical setting operations given its ability to rapidly yield financial benefit.
DHC first engaged with MedAptus in 2007 for a pilot of Professional Intelligent Charge Capture. Providers practicing in gastroenterology, neurology, pediatrics and internal medicine adopted both the mobile and web-enabled versions of Practice Plus Edition to support point-of-care coding of office encounters. Shortly after go-live, a subset of providers started to utilize MedAptus in the inpatient setting, to assist in the capture of hospital services often missed.
With positive feedback from pilot users and demonstrable system results, DHC decided to extend charge capture automation to additional providers across its southern region clinics. As part of the due diligence process, DHC incorporated other vendor offerings into a methodical review process.
