Dawnbreaker to Spearhead the DOT SBIR Commercialization Assistance Program

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Oct. 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded Dawnbreaker, Inc. a possible multiple year agreement to provide support services for its Commercialization Assistance Program (CAP). Under the agreement, Dawnbreaker is providing Phase I Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) awardees commercialization assistance, which includes market research. Additional services will also be provided for Phase II SBIR award recipients. The ultimate goal of the CAP is to give small businesses the necessary tools to transition technologies to the marketplace.

"Our blanket purchase agreement with DOT will allow us to work directly with small businesses to address the critical steps needed to commercialize their SBIR-funded innovations," says Dawnbreaker President Dr. Jenny C. Servo. "Our goal is to increase the likelihood of their technologies transitioning to the market, and ensure they are providing a needed solution to satisfy DOT's needs."

For Phase I award winners, an assessment is provided along with an individualized Commercialization Plan Readiness Review. This may include a get-to-market strategy, business model planning, and target market assessments. For small businesses receiving a Phase II award, additional commercialization assistance is provided to implement the commercialization plan.
