Product Review Finds DWT's Federated Search the Most Compelling
CHARLESTON, S.C., Nov. 2, 2011 — Deep Web Technologies™ (DWT), the leader in federated search of the Deep Web, today announced that its Explorit™ federated search product has been featured in the most recent issue of Charleston Advisor™, a highly regarded publication providing "Critical Reviews of Web Products for Information Professionals." Unlike traditional federated search, with xSearch speed of the search process is not impaired by waiting for notoriously slow search engines to respond. Results from the most responsive sources are displayed as soon as they are available, so that the user can immediately begin exploring results. When slower sources deliver results, a pop-up appears indicating that more sources have returned results, giving the user the option to integrate these additional results into the existing result set.

xSearch also embeds DWT's "alerts" capability. This provides users with a virtual agent that issues queries on a regular basis and sends alerts via email, RSS, or Atom feeds when new information satisfying search criteria becomes available. This emphasizes the real-time nature of DWT's advanced federated search functionality which, unlike indexed searching, enables users to have access to new content in real time. Researchers do not have to wait for new publications to be indexed, nor does the institution have to do any work to prepare updated content for inclusion. As soon as it's published, new content is accessible to the user.

While pre-indexed search services may be faster than federated search, the content available for search via xSearch is far richer and more up-to-the-minute.
