WATERLOO, Ontario, Sept. 13, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Fluxible is one of Canada's premiere events for "user experience" designers, the people who strive to bring technology to a human level in the design of products and services. Fluxible takes place in Kitchener-Waterloo on September 14 & 15, 2013. It draws attendees and expert speakers from countries around the world. Three Canadian organizations that understand the importance of user experience have made this event possible by lending their generous support.

Fluxible's three Platinum sponsors are based in southern Ontario: Arc MediaKik, and the University of Waterloo Stratford Campus. All share a passion for building Canada's fast-growing design community, and for building products that people love. "We literally spend thousands of hours working on how the app looks, feels and works for our users," reports Heather Galt, VP Marketing at Waterloo-based Kik Interactive. The result is over 50 million registered users, with more than 200,000 joining every day.

Arc Media takes a different approach towards the same goals. A boutique video production firm in Waterloo, they produce cutting-edge videos for companies who need to communicate ideas quickly and clearly. "Designing videos with the viewer in mind is crucial for us," explains Andrew Askes, partner at Arc Media. This perspective is a basic tenet of user experience design, in which the power of media and technology is directed towards improving people's lives, not complicating them.

As Canada's economy shifts more towards technology-based businesses, we need a steady stream of new designers focused on delivering tangible benefits to consumers. The University of Waterloo's Stratford Campus is a leader in educating the next generation of such professionals. It offers undergraduate and graduate programs that train students to examine, create, and commercialize opportunities in the digital media space. Demand for these programs is high, as it's one of the country's few places to learn how global challenges can be tackled through innovation and human-centric thinking.

Fluxible's focus is on the art and science of understanding people and applying technology to help achieve their goals. Co-chairs Mark Connolly and Robert Barlow-Busch have expressed their delight at having sponsors who share this mission and vision so passionately.
