Annual scholarship awarded to Toronto-based non-profit adult literacy program
TORONTO, Aug. 26, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — Destiny Solutions is pleased to announce it has awarded its annual $5,000 Mary Cone Barrie Scholarship to the non-profit East York Learning Experience (EYLE) adult literacy program in Toronto.
Named in honor of the late Dr. Mary Cone Barrie, Director of the School of Continuing Studies at the University of Toronto, Destiny Solutions has awarded the scholarship every year since 2008. The scholarship was established to recognize the efforts of adult learners who are transforming their lives through education.

Since 1986, East York Learning Experience has been helping adults enhance their literacy skills, leading to greater opportunities for employment, education and independence for them and their families. After completing the program, the majority of learners are able to use their improved literacy skills to pursue additional education or employment opportunities.

The Mary Cone Barrie Scholarship is one of the few financial grants in North America supporting adult learners.

East York Learning Experience is a non-profit adult literacy program serving Toronto. EYLE has spent nearly 30 years assisting adults seeking to improve their personal and working lives through programs in literacy, basic math and computer skills.
