Destiny Solutions Encourages Adults to Continue Their Education with Annual Scholarship

$5,000 in scholarships offered by Destiny Solutions for the 2014-2015 academic year

TORONTO, July 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Destiny Solutions, the leader in lifelong learning business solutions, announced that applications for its Mary Cone Barrie Scholarship officially open today. The Scholarship will award two non-traditional students who demonstrate their financial need and their commitment to education.

"Our company is very passionate about providing non-traditional students with resources to further their education," said Shaul Kuper, Founder and CEO of Destiny Solutions. "We work with schools everyday, helping them create an infrastructure to manage their non-traditional students. This scholarship is one way that we extend our mission and connect directly with learners themselves."

The Mary Cone Barrie Scholarship remains one of few scholarships offered to adult learners to recognize their efforts in pursuing higher education.

Geeti Ahmadzai, a chemistry major at Bucks County Community College who was awarded one of last year's scholarships, was very excited to be immersed in an educational environment when she enrolled, but she found much-needed financial resources hard to come by.

"There are very few scholarships available for non-traditional students," Ahmadzai said. "This scholarship really means the world to me."

Saundra Vernon, a double major in psychology and anthropology at Saint Mary's University who was also awarded one of last year's scholarships, expressed that she too had difficulty finding financial support.

"I find the majority of scholarships are there for high school students," said Vernon. "There is not a lot of funding or scholarship money for anyone over the age of 25."

Since 2008, the Mary Cone Barrie Scholarship has been awarded each year to two adult students and is named in honor of the late Dr. Mary Cone Barrie, director of the School of Continuing Studies at the University of Toronto. A true advocate, supporter and innovator of non-traditional higher education, Dr. Mary Cone Barrie was a dear friend and mentor to Destiny Solutions.

The scholarship is open to any non-traditional student studying at an accredited institution in the United States or Canada. Applications can be found on the Destiny Solutions website, and are due back by Friday, August 29, 2014.
