Boston-based non-profit is a program partner of DVNF
WASHINGTON, Oct. 24, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — The Disabled Veterans National Foundation (www.dvnf.org), a nonprofit veterans service organization that focuses on helping men and women who serve and return home wounded or sick after defending our safety and our freedom, recently visited the New England Center for Homeless Veterans (NECHV), a Boston-based nonprofit, and program partner of DVNF.
The visit came on the heels of a recent shipment of needed items requested by the Center. Among the many various items shipped were men's and women's clothing, snack foods, soaps and lotions for the veterans who utilize NECHV's services.
The DVNF staff visited with the employees and residents of NECHV that day. Many of these veterans have endured difficult post-military lives coping with poverty, family issues, mental health problems and substance abuse.
DVNF spoke with veterans of all walks of life, including an Army veteran who overcame homelessness and is now an employee of NECHV. Other veterans DVNF spoke with were transitioning from difficult lives, marked by long-term poverty. The profound impact of the New England Center was all-to-apparent.
"When veterans walk into the [clothing supply] store, they are always grateful for the items that DVNF has been able to send," one employee told us. "Without these items, many of them would not have clothes to wear. No veteran should ever be left behind."

"The unfortunate reality is that many of these veterans were faced with difficult situations and became homeless. We are extremely pleased with the great work NECHV is doing, and DVNF is proud to continue its support of their outstanding mission."
The shipment of items sent to the New England Center for Homeless Veterans was valued at over $300,000. NECHV serves a large region of New England, which uses the items sent throughout the year for the homeless veterans in need.
