DUI Safety Scholarship Program for DUI Victims Brings Awareness by Thompson Law Firm

April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month and Thompson Law Firm brings more awareness to vehicle safety with its DUI Victim Law School Scholarship.

CHANDLER, Ariz., March 30, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — The Thompson Law Firm has announced that it will award $2,000 in scholarship funding as a part of its initiative to help those who were injured by a DUI driver.

Accidents caused by impaired drivers, or drivers who were under the influence (DUI) of drugs and/or alcohol, account for roughly 11,000 fatalities every single year. However, major efforts from the U.S Department of Transportation, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), and a plethora of state-based organizations have helped that number decline by a few hundred for the last half-decade. These efforts include improved vehicle safety measures, the introduction of in-car DUI technologies, and a number of DUI awareness programs. The largest and most common of these campaigns is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month, which is an effort headed by the U.S. Department of Transportation to stop texting, cell phone use and other distracting activities that take place behind the wheel. National Distracted Driving Awareness Month takes place during the month of April and is one of the many measures underpinning the need for initiatives such as the DUI Victim Scholarship.

For the past few years, the Thompson Law Firm has taken major steps forward to bring awareness to the topic of DUI safety, and the DUI Victim Scholarship serves as just one part of the firm's ongoing, multifaceted commitment to lowering the number of deaths and injuries caused by DUI drivers.

"No one deserves to lose their life or the life of a loved one in an accident caused by a driver who was under the influence," says Attorney Christy Thompson. "And, as a part our firm's commitment to combating drunk driving and making our highways, streets and communities safer, we are doing whatever it takes to keep the topic of prevention top-of-mind for every driver, parent, student, friend, and loved one in every community across the nation."

Thankfully, the efforts for this cause are ongoing. The unified goal of all of these organizations is to help people understand the social, legal, emotional and physical consequences of drunk driving – especially for those incidents where innocent victims die needlessly because of a person who made the decision to drive while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. Christy Thompson reminds us that it's never too late to get involved with the efforts that could potentially save yourself or someone you love.
