The American Academy of Pediatrics, California Chapter 2 elects Paula Whiteman, MD, FACEP, FAAP, as President

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Paula Whiteman, M. D., FAAP, FACEP, the newly elected President for the American Academy of Pediatrics, California Chapter 2 authored the late resolution, "Ban on Marijuana Advertising that Could be Perceived as Directed to Children." This resolution was ranked #1 by her peers, other chapters and sections at the AAP Annual Leadership Forum (ALF), which took place in March, 2014. The ALF resolutions serve as the priority issues for the AAP to address over the upcoming year.

Dr. Whiteman is also the consulting pediatric specialist with the Los Angeles County Emergency Medical Services Agency and helped develop the Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics (EDAP) standards and Pediatric Medical Center (PMC) standards. These are voluntary hospital designations. Ambulances will preferentially bring sick children to the emergency departments of these hospitals based on those standards.
