The theme of this year's conference is Powerful Strategies for Developing Strong Students, and educators will be treated to two days with some of the nation's top educational experts, as they help educators energize their teaching, explore ready-to-implement research-based strategies, and gain a deeper understanding of the CCSS that moves beyond pure implementation and focuses instead on content-specific areas.

One of the most popular conferences of the year, and the largest in New England, the event features 11 expert presenters, and dozens of hands-on, interactive sessions, including nine "Make & Take" sessions.

Designed with New England educators in mind, the conference is full of the content that New England educators have indicated they need to be successful in their classrooms, including exposure to the new assessments (both PARCC and Smarter Balanced), an increased understanding of instructional strategies, the latest behavior and classroom management techniques, and new and updated ideas for integrating technology into the classroom.

"Educators will have plenty of opportunities to address areas that are important in the classroom right now," says Kymra Kurinskas, SDE's Program Planner, who helped develop the event. "Areas like text complexity, identifying struggling learners and assigning the best-fit intervention strategy, close reading, the 8 Mathematical Practices, and more, are all strongly covered and heavily featured."

The conference features highly-acclaimed education experts Charles Beaman, Ed.D., Erica Bohrer, Cara Carroll, Melissa Dickson, Michael Godfrey, Jim Grant, Kimberly Jordano, Katherine McKnight, Ph.D., Laureen Reynolds, Angela Watson, and Donna Whyte. Not only will these high-caliber presenters conduct interactive content-area sessions, but educators will also have opportunities to engage with them in more intimate settings through a series of round-table discussions ("table talks") on school readiness, mindset, grit, and entitlement. Presenters will also offer in-between sessions an array of quick take-away tips to improve centers, motivation, assessment, and more.

"We are so lucky to have an all-star line-up of presenters at this event," says Kurinskas. "Our two keynote speakers, Charles Beaman and Jim Grant, are always popular, and both bring to their keynotes great insight, expertise, and humor. We really look forward to starting each day this way—it provides such a colorful jumpstart to days filled with learning!"

SDE prides itself on quality professional development that is research-based, innovative, and motivating, while also being able to help teachers increase rigor and critical thinking in their instruction. The New England PreK-3 Conference has been carefully designed to combine deep insight into instruction with an eye to content-rich, practical, and relevant information in the areas of text complexity, close reading, interventions, technology resources, differentiated instruction, poverty, ESL, ELL, and more. Educators will find sessions that cover a plethora of relevant topics, including content-area games and center ideas to maximize learning, and effective math and literacy strategies for meeting the standards.

Designed for new and veteran teachers alike, and also with relevant sessions inclusive of and sometimes specific to, administrators, the New England PreK-3 Conference will be held at the Radisson Hotel Manchester, conveniently located off I-293, not far from the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport and easily accessible from anywhere in New England. Educators interested registering for this conference, or learning about more about SDE's national conferences, upcoming SDE events, or other professional development opportunities, can visit www.SDE.com, call 1-800-462-1478, or email customersatisfaction@sde.com.

Each day of the conferences feature a morning keynote, followed by four 75-minute blocks of conference sessions. Attendees are able to pick from 8 sessions for each block to help customize their experience and center it on their most pressing issues.
