Fifty Percent of CardFlight Merchants Are Now EMV-enabled; Adds EMV Certification with Global Payments

CardFlight receives yet another EMV certification, as the front runner in enabling merchants to accept EMV chip card payments on mobile devices

NEW YORK, May 18, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — CardFlight, a mobile point of sale (POS) technology provider, announced that more than half of merchants using its suite of mobile solutions are actively accepting EMV "chip card" transactions. Additionally, CardFlight has been certified by Global Payments Inc., a leading worldwide provider of payment technology services, to accept EMV chip card payments. This will enable merchants who process payments through Global Payments to accept EMV payments when using CardFlight's software and card readers, on iOS and Android devices.

CardFlight's announcement that more than 50 percent of its merchants are EMV-enabled significantly outperforms industry averages. In April, Visa announced that roughly 20 percent of its merchant locations in the U.S. have chip-enabled terminals.  The United States is in the process of migrating to EMV chip card technology, with a liability shift that occurred on October 1, 2015 that encouraged card issuers and merchants to adopt EMV technology. According to the most recent edition of CardFlight's EMV Migration Tracker, over 56% of cards presented at U.S. merchants now contain EMV chips.

Also being announced today, CardFlight's PCI-DSS Level 1 compliant gateway has been certified by Global Payments to accept EMV chip card transactions. In addition to Global Payment's certification, the solution has also passed a rigorous set of industry approvals including Visa Acquirer Device Validation Toolkit (ADVT), MasterCard Terminal Integration Process (M-TIP), American Express Integrated Circuit Card Payment Specification (AEIPS), and Discover Payment Application Specification (D-PAS).

"CardFlight has been a leader in offering EMV-compliant mobile solutions and was one of the only providers to offer EMV-enabled mobile solutions prior to the liability shift," said Derek Webster, Founder and CEO of CardFlight. "We are thrilled to add Global Payments as an EMV-enabled processor, making it possible for independent sales organizations and other partners of Global Payments to offer mobile EMV acceptance to their merchants."

In addition to the Global Payments certification, CardFlight previously announced EMV certifications and approvals with First Data, Stripe and TSYS.
