"At the heart of many of the economic problems facing our country is a lack of basic financial knowledge and an inability to effectively manage personal finances," said Reuters personal finance columnist and TV anchor Rebell. "I decided that one of the best ways I could promote financial literacy was to partner with DonorsChoose.org in funding classroom projects that help teachers and students learn about money and prepare for their financial futures."

Only 17 states require students to take a high school course in personal finance, and fewer than 20 percent of teachers feel competent to even teach personal finance topics, according to the Council for Economic Education's Survey of the States. The study also found that 72 percent of parents experience at least some reluctance to talk to their kids about financial matters.

"Financial health is a critical component of overall wellness, and a solid education is the first step in empowering Americans to make financial decisions that improve their lives," said Weissbluth. "On behalf HighTower, I am grateful for the opportunity to support Bobbi's important work advocating for financial literacy in schools."

Rebell and HighTower will be giving away gift cards for her early readers to support the financial literacy projects featured on DonorsChoose.org/financialgrownup. Readers who pre-order "How to Be a Financial Grownup" will receive a DonorsChoose.org gift card equal to the current selling price of the book ($18 on Amazon.com), while supplies last.

DonorsChoose.org makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. "How to Be a Financial Grownup" readers can use the gift card to donate to a financial literacy project in a public school classroom of their choice.

Rebell will also be donating 100 percent of her speaking fee profits to DonorsChoose.org for the entire calendar year of 2016.

"How to Be a Financial Grownup: Proven Advice from High Achievers on How to Live Your Dreams and Have Financial Freedom" by Bobbi Rebell, with a foreword by New York Times #1 Bestselling author Tony Robbins, will be published October 18 by Maven House Press.

Everyone is encouraged to join the financial literacy conversation on social media using the hashtag #FinancialGrownup or by connecting with Bobbi Rebell on Twitter (@bobbirebell) and Facebook (www.facebook.com/bobbirebell).
