The FRN™ program helps consumers save money on their fuel purchases simply by shopping and dining through thousands of participating retailers, restaurants and online merchants. And this summer, the FRN program announced their mission to help Americans save one billion dollars on fuel. Taking part in an event such as the National Red Bull Flugtag is a perfect way for the FRN team to spread their savings message to the world as they attempt to take flight.

"Excentus is proud to support the Fuel Rewards Network's Team Fuel Fairy in their quest to win the Flugtag contest," said Dickson Perry, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Excentus, provider of the FRN program. "Team Fuel Fairy's innovative air-worthy craft design aligns perfectly with our core mission of fueling the economy and saving our consumers money at the pump. This event provides us with a tremendous platform to spread awareness about the FRN program and engage with our consumers in a fun and unique way."

Red Bull Flugtag, which translates to "flying day" in German, focuses on creative energy and engineering prowess as competitors design and build homemade flying machines that they will pilot off a 30-foot high deck. The goal is to not only achieve the greatest distance before splashing into the water, but also to display creativity and showmanship in the process.

Red Bull Flugtag has taken place worldwide for 12 years, entertaining more than 500,000 people annually. The first Red Bull Flugtag took place in 1991 in Vienna, Austria while the first U.S. Red Bull Flugtag was produced October 2002 in San Francisco.  Since then, Red Bull Flugtag has landed in Austin, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, Miami, Portland, Long Beach, Baltimore, Cleveland, Tempe, Nashville, Tampa, the Twin Cities and Philadelphia.

Team Fuel Fairy is led by five FRN program employees who are building a flying fuel nozzle, affectionately called the "Nozzlider." Their goal is not just to compete, but to win the entire Flugtag competition. Sharing their message of saving on fuel while outdistancing the competition is what these five wildly imaginative FRN employees have focused on with their Nozzlider.

"Our passion for flying, and free gas, is what brought the five of us together to design and build the Noz and compete in this year's incredible Red Bull Flugtag," said Ticla Wilson, one of the employees working on their (semi) secret Nozzlider. "We work in different departments but share the same passions, and since our company is dedicated to saving Americans one billion dollars on fuel, we couldn't be prouder of setting out on a flying fuel nozzle this September. After all, what says 'fuel savings' better than that?"

Teams have three months to complete their flying, human-powered crafts, culminating with National Red Bull Flugtag DFW. A panel of celebrity judges has been recruited to rank and rate each team's performance across three categories: flying distance, creativity, and showmanship.

Flying machines must follow strict engineering guidelines such as 20-foot maximum length, 28-foot maximum wing span, 10-foot maximum height, and it can weigh no more than 400 pounds, with the pilot on board.
