The Cybersecurity Law & Policy In-House Summit, www.cybersecuritylaw.org, will take place January 14th and 15th at the Hotel Monaco in Washington, D.C., and is hosted and produced by Global Law Forum, along with Knowledge Partners Alston & Bird LLP and Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP.

The Summit will bring together corporate counsel for two days of peer-led strategies and benchmarking exercises. Mr. Daniel joins other government representatives from the U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Federal Trade Commission, and Federal Bureau of Investigation, who will discuss private-sector collaboration and privacy and security in a heightened cybersecurity environment.

"In 2014, we can continue to expect an active and evolving cyber threat landscape," according to Kim Peretti, co-chair of Alston & Bird's Security Incident Management & Response Team. "With the active participation of legal, companies must continue to take steps to understand their cyber risk and liability, and build and maintain a defensible response as attacks grow in frequency and sophistication," Peretti stated. "We are pleased to participate in this Summit, which provides an invaluable learning opportunity where in-house counsel, industry and Government stakeholders can collaborate to strengthen individual defenses based on the latest information and learnings."

Joining Ms. Peretti at the meeting will be representatives from GE, Verizon, Equifax, Reed Elsevier, U.S. Naval Academy, Zurich, SRA International, and other leading professionals who will lead sessions on emerging issues, including: the NIST framework and emergence of a new standard of care; lawful active defense and risk mitigation; government investigations and enforcement forecast; cybersecurity insurance; and assessing the threat landscape to anticipate future attack scenarios.

"Collaboration is key. Both internally within a corporation and from an industry perspective, in-house counsel play an integral role in bringing together the essential players for companies in developing a strong cyber posture," said Dana-Megan Rossi, Founder & CEO of Global Law Forum. "We are pleased to provide a forum and an opportunity for ongoing dialogue for corporate counsel to collaborate and share practical insights for protecting consumer data and corporate stakeholders from unyielding and increasingly sophisticated cyber attacks."
