Daniel Chávez Morán, Founder of Grupo Vidanta, Awarded National Entrepreneur Award and named Tourism Entrepreneur of the Year in Mexico

Mexico President Enrique Peña Nieto presented both awards in ceremonies last week

MEXICO CITY, March 18, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — Daniel Chávez Morán, founder of Mexico's leading resort operator and developer Grupo Vidanta, was recognized with two esteemed distinctions last week for his career in tourism and his entrepreneurship in Mexico.  Mexico's Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services, and Tourism (CONCANACO Servytur) named Chávez Morán the Tourism Entrepreneur of the Year on March 9 for his extraordinary business career in the tourism efforts of Mexico. On March 11, Chávez Morán won the National Entrepreneur Award from The National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) for his achievements and the forming of innovative projects with a social impact. Mexico President Enrique Peña Nieto presented both awards in Mexico City.

During the Tourism Entrepreneur of the Year award ceremony on March 9, the Executive Committee and Directing Council of the CONCANACO Servytur, in conjunction with the president of Mexico, honored Chávez Morán for revolutionizing the tourism industry in Mexico. The committee highlighted Grupo Vidanta's contributions to the development of the destinations in which it operates, and acknowledged the company's commitment to social responsibility. In addition, Chávez Morán was praised for his accomplishments within the hotel industry, including Grand Luxxe receiving the coveted AAA Five Diamond distinction, and frequently being listed among "Best Companies to Work for in Mexico" with over 15,000 employees.

On March 11, Chávez Morán received the highest distinction for Mexican nationals supporting entrepreneurial culture in Mexico. Chávez Morán was chosen among thousands to receive the award, recognizing him for his achievements in business, job creation, innovative projects, and social impact throughout his career. President Enrique Peña Nieto, the Ministry of Economy, the president of the National Institute of Entrepreneurship, and the Department of Competition and Regulation presented the award in a ceremony in Mexico City.
