Project Recognized for Outstanding Architecture and Community Enhancement
LOS ANGELES, July 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — HLW International earned recognition for its design of the Agensys Cancer Research Laboratory in Santa Monica, California. Agensys, Inc. is an affiliate of Astellas Pharma. The Los Angeles Business Council recognized the project for "outstanding architecture and design that significantly enhances the Los Angeles community's urban environment." The project, which will be completed in 2013, garnered the 2013 Under Construction Award of Excellence.

The project is a state-of-the-art facility which helps fulfill Astellas' mission of developing innovative pharmaceuticals for cancer patients with still unmet medical needs. It is targeted for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver certification.
The Agensys campus features a pedestrian pathway, a public cafe and a public sculpture garden showcasing art by local artists. New art will be rotated annually.
HLW's design team included Steve Burton, AIA, Principal-in-Charge & Project Manager, David Swartz, AIA, Senior Project Architect, Carlie Campesi, Design Director – Science & Technology, and Stephanie Baca, Design Director – Interiors.
