Invictus Foundation™ Receives Grant from Genentech, a Member of the Roche Group

Nonprofit organization will use funds to extend its efforts in helping military members, veterans and their families through its Welcome Home Network program

SEATTLE, Jan. 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Invictus Foundation™, a national nonprofit organization offering one on one and family behavioral health counseling services with licensed behavioral health providers to active duty military, National Guard, Reserve forces, veterans of Iraq, Afghanistan and their families regardless of their ability to pay announces a grant from Genentech to scale its Welcome Home Network program and services.

"Through Genentech's generosity we will continue to raise awareness about the psychological impact of war, to reduce stigma, and to raise awareness about the Welcome Home Network™ program and services," said Peter J. Whalen, Founder and CEO of the Invictus Foundation.™ "With Genentech's support we can extend our efforts to help military members, veterans and their families. This grant will help us continue our work to normalize what our military members, veterans and their families are experiencing and support the sacrifices that they are making by providing critical and confidential behavioral health services regardless of their ability to pay.

"The principal issues confronting this Community are lack of access, lack of services and finally lack of health care benefits. The first two have nothing to do with health care benefits but rather lack of an understanding of referral sources, fragmentation within the referral sources themselves and the lack of a unified informatics platform specifically designed to help them find the resources. The Invictus Foundation's Welcome Home Network program and services and its informatics platform have been designed to fill that void," states Mr. Whalen. "By providing services that are separate from the military establishment, the Welcome Home Network™ offers an essential option for men and women who might otherwise fail to seek or receive appropriate services."
